Chris Lawrence
Biography
Chris Lawrence’s 20-year VFX career has seen him earn four Academy Award nominations as a supervisor, most recently in 2021 for George Clooney’s The Midnight Sky.

Chris has leant his love for film-making to franchises from Harry Potter to The Kingsman, and received both an Oscar and a BAFTA for his work on Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity (on which he worked for three years as CG Supervisor, from previs through to production), as well as an Oscar nomination for his work on Ridley Scott’s The Martian.

Beyond his exemplary supervisory career, Chris also helped to establish Framestore’s successful Montreal Studio. He served as the studio’s Head of CG, recruiting and managing the teams who worked on titles such as RoboCop and Edge of Tomorrow. In 2007 he made the move to Pixar - which he describes as ‘like being at film school’ - to work on the Oscar-winning Wall-E.
