DescriptionAn overview of Terrain Relative Navigation (TRN), a technology that uses computer vision to determine lander position relative to satellite imagery then uses that information combined with a hazard map to select a safe landing site. TRN was used successfully on the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover to land on the surface of Mars at Jezero Crater, the most hazardous Mars landing site to date. TRN enables safe landing on celestial bodies near scientifically valuable sites.
