DescriptionWe present a foveated VR codec consisting of image pre-reduction that can be combined with conventional video codecs. The initial testing gave no visible artifacts at a warp rate of 5:1. The evaluation suggests that this approach practicably be implemented on current architectures and improves visual quality over static foveation.
