DescriptionThis Birds of a Feather is for attendees interested in generative design and symmetrical grid systems. Architect Walter Netsch explored symmetry grid systems in the 1970’s in his work known as “field theory”. As a student of Netsch in the 1980’s, I have investigated field theory both in art and architecture. 40 years later, algorithms reveal the dynamics of this biomimetic form that Netsch referred to as the “chrysanthemum” and highlights special properties of its twelve-point iteration.
