Santiago Echeverry
Biography
Santiago Echeverry is a Colombian American New Media Artist, Producer, and Educator, with a background in Film, Television, Video and Performance Art. He started exhibiting internationally in 1992, participating in festivals such as Siggraph, Siggraph Asia, FILE and the Japan Media Arts Festival, among others. Thanks to the Fulbright Grant, he received his Master's degree from the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU. He moved to the USA in 2003, and relocated to Florida in 2005 to teach Interactive Media at the University of Tampa. His research is focused on volumetric imaging, video-art, interactive design, creative code and queer expressions. In his latest project, The Cabaret, he is producing a series of experimental videos, digital prints, and virtual portraits, created with the volumetric sensor Kinect and custom code in Processing, that capture three-dimensionally the members and supporters of vibrant LGBTQ communities around the world.
